I read this piece but I am actually here to comment on your opinion written on another blog. On that blog you make a very wrong assumption that I am too young to understand the racial meaning behind some images. For the record I understand and continue to see and deal with people that refuse to progress.

In the piece above I have to agree the “fight” over flag burning is a debate I question well and say why? when we have much bigger fish to fry. Personally I would not burn the flag but can’t take away the rights of others. As we restrict speech other binds on personal freedoms soon materialize.

It was not an assumption, it was speculation.

Indeed, racism still exists in our society today, but it is no longer institutionalized as it was in the days when segregation was still the law of the land in certain parts of the nation and racist imagery and stereotypes were not considered offensive in the same sense as they are today.

Great post Margaret! I would like to request that you come show some of the idiots at my blog how to respectfully debate. It gets so out of hand. I would also like to invite you to listen to my radio show on Saturdays from 1 p.m. EST to 3 p.m. at http://www.wideawakesradio.com

I would very much like for you to call in. We could chat, debate, whatever. Thanks, Jay
