U.S. congressional Democrats want ABC to cancel an upcoming TV miniseries about the September 11 attacks. Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada other leading Senate Democrats wrote to Robert Iger, president and CEO of ABC’s corporate parent, the Walt Disney Co., urging him to “cancel this factually inaccurate and deeply misguided program.”

“The Path to 9/11,” which is critical of former Democratic President Bill Clinton and his top aides, is set to air in two parts on Sunday and Monday nights. The movie suggests that Mr. Clinton’s administration was too distracted by the Monica Lewinsky scandal to effectively deal with the growing threat of Islamic militants.

Don’t the U.S. congressional Democrats in question realize that their attempts to prevent this program from being aired will only increase its ratings shares?

I, for one, have decided to give it an open minded look precisely because the controversy drew me to several positive critical reviews — apparently, the production itself has quite a lot of artistic merit, regardless of certain “dramatic licenses” the scriptwriters may have taken.

See what happens? Before, I didn’t really care. Now I have to watch it.
