Updating

Pitiful and pathetic!

No, I’m not getting on my pity potty about my sucky life because my life doesn’t suck. But lately, my blog sure does!

No, I am not looking for reassurance and validation. I know I can write even though I am not a real writer (real writers write whether or not they’re any good at it). I am flaming myself for not doing so more often, and for having not written a decent article since April — now that’s bad, even for me.

The problem is three-fold. First, it’s hard to choose a subject as there are so many interesting things to write about. Second to that is my pedantic nature, which manifests itself in an eternal internal conflict over quality versus quantity. Lastly, I’m just lazy and distracted, often preferring to comment on other blogs and message boards because it’s more interactive and conversational — and therefore satisfying — than shouting through this ostentatious echo chamber.

But I’m not going anywhere, and I’ll not be making any empty promises about updating more often. Besides, whenever I concoct one of my long and detailed manifestoes, I post it to Blogcritics instead of here. Blogcritics is a very high quality publication, and it’s editors require exclusivity, so when I get published there I just link to the article from here.

So, this is an update of the quantity variety. Maybe there’ll be more, maybe there won’t be. Stay tuned — or not.

"The problem with people who have no vices is that generally you can be pretty sure they're going to have some pretty annoying virtues."
