Last night I watched the war in Iraq end. I figured since I watched it begin, I should watch it end, too. So, around 9 pm EST (2 or 3 am local time) the last of our combat troops crossed the border into Kuwait, the gate was closed, and an era ended.

And homophobes everywhere are all up in arms as if this is news of pending Armageddon.

Jon Goldwater, co-CEO of Archie Comics, says it’s “about keeping the world of Archie Comics current and inclusive.”

But the homophobes, as usual, see conspiracies, and they’re not sure what it means — political correctness gone “too far,” or the standard indoctrination into the “homosexual agenda” (whatever that’s supposed to be), or that the publishers are trying to be “hip” — as if it’s, like, the late 1970s.

Well, here’s the scoop.

It’s not PC BS, nor is it indoctrination, or even an attempt to be “hip.”

It’s called progress, folks.

In the modern world — as opposed to paradise never was — we acknowledge that some people are gay and that they are as much a part of our society and culture as anyone else.

So, either live in these times, or get left behind — ’cause there’s no goin’ back to the bad old days when people who were not straight, white, Christian and male, were considered second-class citizens.

(Yes, equality can be a bitch to those who believe themselves superior!)

Okay, I’ve Got a New Theme

Y’all may or may not like it — all two or three of you who may be paying attention — but I do and that’s what counts. I’m sure someone else is using it somewhere, but I don’t care ’cause I made it a little different.
